Então vamos lá.

let's go!

((((•)))) Edu, have you at least once in life thought about doing something else that was not related to art?

Every time I wake up and to bedtime, but when I see myself wrapped in art projects, linking resources to go right, without leaving the computer, without stopping to set up, the conversations that lead to and interests as well. Thinking about doing something else, I always think, but do .... what?

(((((•))))) How would you translate the Bahian dance today?

Along with the visual arts believe that dance in Bahia is a very productive time. There are many researchers, breeders, groups and artists engaged in very interesting projects in various segments of the dance. Bahia is a state of motion, is not it? The dance is everywhere, all over body, in every corner. The big problem here is the art, other than entertainment, reaching the general public.

(((((•)))))) ...so, I think this is a global emergency ... What are the difficulties encountered to dance professionally today in Bahia?

The first thing is the lack of investment in maintenance of artistic projects, as part of ongoing research. The current system of bidding is effective as an effort to democratize public funds and this has happened, no doubt, but considering the group in a given period of time, for a specific job. When you finish the period of installation, the spectacle is not to remain in the presentation rooms, the artists need to seek other sources, the groups are thin ... You must make an effort to support the research, the groups have time to extend the investigations of the artists to appropriate the discourse proposed. It is as if we took the cake before it is fully baked. With the endangers it become bad.

(((((•)))))) How many years you are part of the Group X Dance Improvisation?

I participate in Group X Dance Improvisation since 1999, so we've been together for 10 years.

(((((•)))))) How did this meeting with the Group X?

I was part of the Group On Wheels ...? Rita Spinelli, when David Iannitelli, director of the X at the time, through our trials and invited me to participate in the research of improvisation that took place every Friday. I was, like, and of course I kept the cast of the integrated group. With this group have the opportunity to exercise various functions (dancer, choreographer, director, set designer, costume designer) in various stages of the group, which helped me in guiding my career and gave me support for independent flight attempt, with the creation of soil, for example.

(((((•)))))) You introduced me to Cia Artmacadam, that is today for me a reference. Tell us a little about what they are today for his art and his life.

My relationship with the CIA Artmacadam was love at first sight. We met at a time when verbal communication was impossible because we did not talk to each other's language and dancing made this immediate contact and body relationships were the first impressions we had. Perhaps this is so intense our meeting, it was through the skin by sweating. As artists they seek a simplicity that becomes a philosophy, and that is transformative for me every year. The generosity, openness, creativity, dialogues ... At any moment I learn with them, in and out of the picture, in conversations "big head" as in nonsense. His close relationship with them has changed a lot in my state of body, state of life. We earn a free gift also the friends and families of each, which completes the story.

(((((•)))))) In your opinion, what are the aspects that most shocked the Brazilian public?

I don't think I got something that shocks the Brazilian public, I think it is the context in which particular thing is inserted to cause the nuisance, the strangeness. If we think of the disabled body, because this issue is closer to me, I see the reception of the public with our work and not feel rejection, shock, because it is a work which relate to disability in a manner different from that of other groups and in this case, when the deficiency is placed on a higher plane to the aesthetic and artistic, I have seen a backlash to this kind of work. With this example I want to say that there is a deficiency that shocks, but as you work with it.

(((((•)))))) What move you to create a new work? How to give your creative processes?

What motivates me to create is the need to vomit. Things get inside of me is brooding, throbbing, igniting. There comes a time that does not give more and leaves. Sometimes in the form of poetry, in other designs poorly made, some as dancing, as drama, as speech. My creative process is like an even vomiting. Unload all the time. Has the influence of training in visual arts, everything is very imagery. After driving off, is the way that it will take, colors, textures, mood. When the product is the dance, which is conventionally think dance is what comes last. First comes the space, then what will be done to fill it, then the features in this space. Like a painting on a canvas.

(((((•)))))) There is a creative rest?

I think that while we are drunk with a project is impossible to get something new. It's like a state of passion, we enjoy it all, because it does not contaminate the new Inevitably that will already be contaminated by all our experience, but if you are immersed in the process ... is important for me to squeeze the last drop, when we are more saturated, when our perception is realizing other things, the new comes in a natural process, same as above is still alive. But I don't think we have to stop in time to create. Idleness is not complete, you're always in motion, even if it is stopped.

(((((•)))))) Goes the artist where the audience is, or goes the audience where the artist is?

Art is a two-way street, where the artist comes to the public that allows it, then the public was the artist as well. The work is complete only when it is absorbed by the external look, if not seen singing in the bathroom.

(((((•)))))) What does the law encouraging the culture to the history of Brazilian art?

For the history of Brazilian art? I think that do not represent much. History ..... I don't see much in these laws that can be absorbed by the history. Rouanet Law may be a future reference, but it's so lame that need to change much, right?

(((((•)))))) What are the dreams / plans that you cultivate for your career?

And dancer has career plan, boy? I thought the work I've done lately, many awards, would improve the career of this now, but is struggling so much suffering that I have lost hope of future plans. I want to do another solo next year, I hope the analyzers stands edicts understand what I warrant and then also with the Group X who needs an incentive to keep on working, or I'll transform into a servant of this competition there, then follow the career like the system. Dancer does not deserve to eat, dress, live, read ... if we do it for pleasure? The work that deserves to be paid is what is hurting. Does nobody told you that?

(((((•)))))) That wonderful words! Thank you again for give of self by the sincerity commitment. I am very happy to have around an artist as artist.
We looking forward to your new work.
A big hug from your friend and fan.
